Why teams replace HubSpot CRM

Sales Hub Professional and Enterprise carry required one-time onboarding fees ($1,500 and $3,500 respectively, per the Sales Hub pricing page) on top of seat prices, and Professional's monthly payment option still commits you annually. The free plan is limited to 2 users (and 1,000 contacts, per the CRM product page), so it stops being viable once a team grows past a couple of reps. AI agents run on metered HubSpot Credits ($9 per 1,000 credits paid annually) beyond each tier's monthly allotment, which adds a variable cost on top of seat prices. Some MCP capabilities depend on the subscription: creating custom pipelines is not supported on free tools, and quotes and AEO tools need Professional or Enterprise Hubs.

HubSpot CRM current baseline

HubSpot CRM is the free core of HubSpot's platform: contacts, companies, deals, and tickets on one data model, with paid Hubs (Marketing, Sales, Service, Content, Data, Revenue) and paid Smart CRM seats layered on top for automation, reporting, and AI.

  • Contact, deal, and task management on one shared CRM data model
  • Deal pipelines and reporting dashboards
  • Email tracking, templates, and meeting scheduling
  • Breeze Assistant and Agent Hub AI agents (Prospecting Agent, Data Agent, Customer Agent) billed through HubSpot Credits
