What is Nutshell

Vendor's own claim

Nutshell is a conventional small-business CRM that has pushed harder than most of its price class on two fronts. The first is bundling: webchat, AI chatbot, form builder, landing pages, email marketing and attribution reporting are included with every CRM subscription rather than gated behind a marketing SKU, though the heavier marketing and engagement features are still paid add-ons metered by contact volume and message count. The second is openness - the developer hub states plainly that API access is available to all customers regardless of plan, and the integrations page offers one-click Claude and ChatGPT connections with read and write permissions via MCP. Pricing is a five-tier per-user ladder from $13 to $79, differentiated largely by how many 'AI outcomes' and custom pipelines you get.

Ideal customer profile

Vendor's own claim

Small and growing B2B sales teams that want CRM and marketing in one system, are price-sensitive, and want to be running quickly rather than through an implementation project - plus teams who want CRM data reachable by API or by an AI assistant without paying for an enterprise tier to get it.

Who should look elsewhere

Our read

The headline $13/user/month is a floor, not a total. Marketing add-ons are priced separately at $49/month for advanced email marketing and A/B testing, $16/user/month for Engagement (two-way SMS, unified inbox, WhatsApp/Messenger/Instagram), $5/month for email marketing sends and $15/month for SMS - and the email and SMS add-ons are then metered by contact count and message volume on sliding scales that run to 900,000+ contacts. A team that actually wants the full marketing stack should price the bundle, not the tier. The AI story is also rationed rather than unlimited: 'AI outcomes' are allocated per plan (10, 20, 40, 100, 150 per tier), so heavy AI use pushes you up the ladder regardless of seat count. Enterprise SSO, SQL data access, unlimited pipelines and unlimited custom fields only appear on the top $79/user tier, so security-driven buyers pay six times the entry price for controls that are table stakes elsewhere.

No curated rival set covers this tool yet, so these are simply other tools in the same architectural layer and product form. Treat it as a starting point, not a shortlist.

Nutshell FAQ

How much does Nutshell cost?

Five per-user tiers: Foundation $13, Growth $25, Pro $42, Business $59, and a top tier at $79 per user per month. Annual billing saves 15%. There are no seat minimums or maximums and every plan includes free live support.

From official docs
What are 'AI outcomes' and how are they limited?

They are Nutshell's AI usage allowance, allocated per tier: 10 on Foundation, 20 on Growth, 40 on Pro, 100 on Business and 150 on the $79 tier. The pricing page attaches a claimed time saving to each (2, 4, 8, 20 and 30 hours saved per month) - those saving figures are marketing, not measurements.

From official docs
Is marketing included or extra?

Both. Webchat, AI chatbot, form builder, landing pages, basic email marketing capabilities and attribution reporting are included with every CRM subscription. The Marketing add-on ($49/month) adds advanced reporting, the AI campaign/landing-page builder, A/B testing and SMS marketing, and sending itself is metered - $5/month email tiers by contact count, $15/month SMS tiers by message count.

From official docs
Does Nutshell have an API, and does it cost extra?

Yes, and no. Nutshell's developer hub states explicitly: 'API access is available to all customers, regardless of your plan.' The REST API is primary and the older JSON-RPC API is maintained indefinitely. Webhooks are documented for events such as contact edits and won leads.

From official docs
Can I connect Claude or ChatGPT to Nutshell?

Yes. The integrations page advertises connecting an AI assistant via MCP, and lists both 'Claude' and 'ChatGPT / OpenAI' as integrations with read and write permissions and one-click connection. We did not retrieve the MCP documentation itself, so we cannot list the exposed tools.

From official docs
What do I need the top tier for?

Enterprise SSO, SQL data access, unlimited pipelines, unlimited custom fields and scheduled phone support are only on the $79/user tier. Audit log and changelog appear one tier below, on Business at $59.

From official docs
Is there a free trial?

14 days, no credit card required, on any plan. Nutshell also offers a free demo booking and states free live support is included on every plan.

From official docs
What does it integrate with?

The integrations page lists hundreds of integrations across categories including Accounting, AI & Developer API, Email/Calendar/Scheduling, E-signature, Forms & Lead Capture, Helpdesk, Marketing, Phone/Text/Chat, Project Management and Sales. Named examples include Aircall, Calendly, CallRail, Dialpad, DocuSign, Gmail and Google Calendar, Google Analytics 4, Google Meet, Intercom, Kixie, Mailchimp, Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Exchange Calendar.

From official docs
Is deleted data recoverable?

Partly, and it is documented in the API reference: deleted accounts are removed from the companies tab and can be restored from the trash within 30 days of deletion via the undelete endpoint.

From official docs
Is there a status page?

We retrieved the page shell but no incident history.

  • A machine-readable OpenAPI specification - none of the standard locations resolved
  • MCP tool names and the MCP setup documentation, despite Claude and ChatGPT being listed as one-click integrations
  • What the 'AI Agent Marketplace' listed on every plan actually contains
  • Official social profiles and any official vendor video
