What is Gearset

Vendor's own claim

Gearset is a purpose-built Salesforce DevOps platform: it deploys metadata between orgs, keeps sandboxes in sync, runs CI/CD pipelines, backs up and archives org data, statically analyzes code/Flows, and layers AI on top (natural-language test creation, an agent that works tickets, AI-assisted root-cause analysis). It sells as a set of separately priced modules (core deployment, automation, backup, observability, code review, testing, the agent) rather than one flat product.

Ideal customer profile

Vendor's own claim

Salesforce admin/engineering teams of any size running an active release cadence who need reliable metadata deployment, CI/CD, and org protection; the vendor explicitly targets everything from small admin+engineer teams up to enterprise-scale multi-org operations, including Agentforce rollouts.

Who should look elsewhere

Our read

Gearset prices per module, per user or per Salesforce user, with real floors: Starter DevOps is $215/user/month, Automate starts at $550/team/month, Backup has a $275/month minimum, Code reviews is $160 per contributor/month, and CPQ/Salesforce Industries deployment add-ons carry a $500/month minimum plus 40% of net spend. A small team wanting the full stack (deploy + automate + backup + observability + code review) is stacking several of these minimums simultaneously, which prices out solo admins or teams managing a single low-complexity org. It is also Salesforce-only - teams needing DevOps tooling for other platforms get nothing here.

Tools in the same layer

Our read

No curated rival set covers this tool yet, so these are simply other tools in the same architectural layer and product form. Treat it as a starting point, not a shortlist.

Gearset FAQ

Does Gearset have a public API?

The pricing page references "API calls (Audit & reporting)" and "API calls (Automation)" as plan-gated features and mentions a Reporting API for Tableau/Power BI, but we could not retrieve dedicated API reference documentation or an OpenAPI spec to confirm endpoints or authentication.

Vendor's own claim
Does Gearset have an MCP server for AI assistants?

We could not find one. That means we found no evidence of one, not that Gearset has confirmed it doesn't exist - check with the vendor directly.

Our read
How is Gearset priced?

It's sold as separate modules, each with its own per-user or per-team monthly price and, in several cases, a monthly minimum: DevOps from $215/user/mo, Automate from $550/team/mo, Backup from $2.75/Salesforce user/mo ($275/mo minimum), Observability at $1/Salesforce user/mo ($100/mo minimum), and Code reviews at $160/contributor/mo.

From official docs
Is there a free trial?

Yes, 30 days with full feature access and no credit card required, per the pricing page.

From official docs
What version control systems does Gearset support?

All major Git providers plus self-hosted Git, including GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and Azure DevOps, per the pricing and integrations pages.

From official docs
What is the Gearset Agent?

An AI agent add-on (separately quoted) that can be assigned tickets, understands org structure and history, and submits pre-validated PRs into a governed pipeline, according to vendor marketing. We have not tested its accuracy or reliability.
