Lifecycle and Retention

Help customers reach recurring value and grow only when expansion benefits them. Use this skill to diagnose drop-off, design lifecycle programs, or prioritize retention and adoption work.

Map behavior to value

Define the customer segment, promised outcome, activation event, recurring value event, lifecycle stage, and observed drop-off. Analyze cohorts and behaviors before prescribing messages. Distinguish correlation from causes; combine product data with customer feedback, support signals, and account context when available.

Select interventions that reduce time-to-value, remove friction, reinforce successful habits, surface relevant help, or address a genuine risk. Use channels and cadence that respect consent, customer preferences, accessibility, regional requirements, and the customer’s relationship with the brand. Avoid manipulative dark patterns or messages that obscure cancellation and privacy choices.

Experiment safely

State the target cohort, trigger, experience, hypothesis, owner, measurement window, holdout/control if feasible, and guardrails. Account for operational routing to support, customer success, or sales. Treat communications and in-product prompts as part of one journey, not competing streams.

Deliverable

Provide a journey map, prioritized opportunity list, lifecycle program specifications, experiment plan, metrics, and risks. Include definitions for activation, retention, expansion, and churn used in the analysis. Do not send communications, alter consent status, change product behavior, or update customer records without approval.
