Mailshake

Email automation that lands in inboxes, gets replies, and books meetings.

Visit Mailshake

Mailshake is a sales-engagement tool for cold outreach: automated email sequences sent through your own mail provider, with follow-ups, A/B testing, an AI writer ("SHAKESpeare"), a unified inbox and a lead-triage queue called Lead Catcher. Its top tier adds a power phone dialer and task-based multichannel sequences. It deliberately positions against heavier prospecting suites - the pitch is a rep sending campaigns on day one rather than a months-long rollout.

What is Mailshake

Vendor's own claim

Mailshake sits between a mail-merge tool and a full sales-engagement platform. Campaigns send through mail accounts you connect - Gmail, G Suite, Office 365, most Outlook/Exchange, or anything supporting SMTP and IMAP - rather than through vendor-owned infrastructure, though a paid "Ready to Use Mailboxes" add-on will provision and rotate mailboxes for you. The plan ladder is gated primarily on how many email addresses an account may connect (1, 2, 10, unlimited) rather than on send volume, which is unlimited from the second tier up.

Ideal customer profile

Vendor's own claim

Small sales teams and solo operators running cold email who want something a new rep can use on their first day. The vendor explicitly contrasts itself with tools that "take months to roll out and are complex to train reps with", and its agency guidance is to have each client hold their own billed team.

Who should look elsewhere

Our read

There is no free trial - the vendor states plainly that payment is collected up front - so you cannot evaluate it without buying. The Starter plan caps at 1,500 email sends per month and a single email address, which is below the threshold where cold outreach is a real programme; anything serious starts at the $45-49 tier. Seat and mailbox economics are also confusing in the vendor's own material: the plan cards advertise 2 and 10 email addresses per account, while the pricing FAQ states that each paid user allows exactly one connected mail account and suggests buying extra users purely to connect extra mailboxes. Data Finder credits are thin (50 free on the two lower tiers) with enrichment sold as a $17-19/month add-on, so this is not a prospecting database. And it is email-and-phone: there is no LinkedIn automation in the documented feature set.

No curated rival set covers this tool yet, so these are simply other tools in the same architectural layer and product form. Treat it as a starting point, not a shortlist.

Mailshake FAQ

Is there a free trial?

No. The vendor answers this directly on its pricing page: payment is collected up front. What is offered instead is concierge onboarding, deliverability training and support resources.

From official docs
How many mailboxes can I actually connect?

The vendor's own pages disagree, so check before buying. The plan cards state 1, 2 and 10 email addresses per account across Starter, Email Outreach and Sales Engagement. The pricing FAQ instead says each paid user allows one connected mail account, and recommends buying extra users purely to add mailboxes. Confirm with the vendor which applies to your plan.

From official docs
Does Mailshake supply the mailboxes, or do I bring my own?

You bring your own by default - it works with Gmail, G Suite, Office 365, most Outlook and Exchange accounts, and most addresses supporting SMTP and IMAP. A "Ready to Use Mailboxes" add-on at $11-12/month will provision extra addresses and switch between them automatically.

From official docs
What deliverability tooling is included?

The vendor bundles a domain setup assistant it describes as requiring no technical skills, free SMTP-based email warm-up, a list-cleaning tool, and an in-app copy analyzer that flags spam words. The help centre additionally documents SPF/DKIM/DMARC setup for Google and Microsoft, custom tracking domains and warm-up procedure.

Vendor's own claim
Is there a phone dialer, and what does it cost?

The dialer is part of the Sales Engagement plan ($85-99/mo), which includes 5 phone numbers and unlimited free dialer minutes to North American numbers. The help centre carries a separate "How much does the phone dialer cost?" article we did not retrieve, so charges outside North America are unconfirmed.

From official docs
Which CRMs does it sync with?

Salesforce, HubSpot and Pipedrive natively from the Email Outreach tier up, with two-way syncing documented for Pipedrive. The integrations directory also lists Zoho, Nimble, Salesmate, Calendly, ScheduleOnce, Acuity, Twilio, Call Loop and Facebook Lead Ads, plus 1,000+ tools via Zapier.

From official docs
Can agencies use Mailshake for clients?

Yes, and the vendor recommends a specific structure: have each client create their own team so the client is the billed party, then join as a user. A user can belong to any number of teams and is not billed unless they own one. The Agency Plan adds unlimited email addresses.

From official docs
How do mid-cycle plan changes get billed?

Prorated - the vendor states you will see either a pending charge or a credit on the account. Cancellation takes effect if made before the renewal date, though outstanding prorated charges still apply.
