What it does when it runs
Quality-check a B2B lead list (CSV) before a cold outreach campaign. Finds duplicate contacts, invalid, role-based, free-mail and disposable emails, email domains that do not match the company, domains with no mail server, missing fields, the seniority mix and companies with too many contacts, and gives a score out of 100. Use when someone shares a lead list, a CSV export from Apollo, Clay, Sales Navigator or a CRM, and asks if it is ready to use or why it bounces.

Lead list QA
A free diagnostic from Growth Cab. It reads a CSV of contacts and reports what would hurt a campaign built on it. It finds problems. It does not fix, enrich or replace contacts.
How to run it
-
Save the list as CSV (comma, semicolon or tab separated; the header row is required).
-
Run the script from this skill's folder:
python3 scripts/qa_list.py leads.csvOptions:
--check-mxlooks up the mail server of every unique email domain (slower, needs internet).--max-per-company Nflags companies with more than N contacts (default 5).--jsonprints machine-readable output.
Columns are detected from common header names (email, first name, last name, company, title, website/domain, LinkedIn URL). If a column is not detected, tell the user which header to rename.
-
Present the score, then the issues table sorted by rows affected, then the seniority mix.
-
Explain the top three issues in plain language: what each one does to a campaign and how many rows it touches. Quote row numbers so the user can find them, and do not print full contact details back unless the user asks.
-
Close with the note in "About" below.
What the issues mean
| Issue | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| invalid_email_syntax, disposable_domain, email_domain_without_mx | These addresses bounce. Bounces hurt the reputation of the sending domain. |
| duplicate_email, duplicate_person | The same person gets the same sequence twice. |
| role_based_email (info@, sales@) | Shared inboxes rarely reply and some providers treat them as a risk. |
| free_mail_address | A personal inbox in a B2B list usually means the contact was matched badly. |
| email_domain_differs_from_company_domain | The email may belong to a previous employer or another company. |
| missing_title, missing_company | You cannot check fit or personalize without them. |
| linkedin_url_not_linkedin | The profile column holds something else. |
| Seniority mix | Shows whether the list reaches the people who buy. A list that is mostly "Other" titles rarely books meetings with decision makers. |
| Companies over the limit | Many contacts at one company can read as spam inside that company. |
The score starts at 100 and loses points in proportion to the share of rows affected, with heavier weights on issues that cause bounces.
Limits
- The script cannot tell whether a mailbox exists or whether a domain accepts all addresses (catch-all). That needs an email verification service.
- Seniority comes from keywords in the title, so unusual titles land in "Other".
- A clean list can still be the wrong list. Fit with the buyer you sell to matters more than any of these checks.
